Frank Sinatra, long acclaimed as the world's greatest performer of popular music, is the artist who set the standard for all others to follow. Mr. Sinatra was, of course, more than a singer - he was an actor, recording artist, cabaret and concert star, radio and television personality and, on occasion, producer, director and conductor.
The Duprees and Frank Sinatra have some special things in common: both originally from New Jersey (Jersey City and Hoboken), but more importantly, both are known for recording beautiful, romantic love songs especially those from the Big Band era.
Frank Sinatra will always be remembered for his wonderful vocal interpretations of songs and of course those masterful arrangements. No one can truly emulate or duplicate those extraordinary recordings. Instead, the concept of this album pays tribute to Frank Sinatra with today's Duprees performing a vocal group's approach to some of those wonderful recordings he made famous. It is with this album The Duprees celebrate Frank Sinatra's 100th Birthday (December 12, 2015). It was a labor of love for us to record these great songs.
A special "Thank You" to our musical director Mark Baron for his brilliant arrangements.
